Riverpark Sunset 2

I returned to the River Park area for another sunset, this time positioning myself on the boardwalk itself, looking back toward the pavilion with the full sweep of sky overhead. The conditions were different from my previous visit - the clouds were building into massive formations, creating drama and texture that suggested something exceptional was developing.

The sun had just dropped below the horizon, and the aftermath was spectacular. The clouds caught fire from below, their undersides glowing in brilliant orange and gold while the tops remained purple-gray. The color spread across the entire sky in layers and bands, creating depth and dimension. The water reflected some of this warmth back, and the marsh grass took on golden tones.

I composed to emphasize the drama overhead while keeping the boardwalk and pavilion as grounding elements. The palmetto in the immediate foreground provided scale and context. The wooden walkway led toward the covered pavilion, and the surrounding marsh framed everything naturally. This wasn't about documenting the infrastructure - it was about capturing what happens when you're in the right place when the sky decides to perform.

The light was fading quickly, which meant I needed to work fast, balancing the bright sky with the darker foreground, keeping detail in both while preserving the intensity of the color. These are the moments that justify showing up evening after evening, waiting for conditions to align - when atmosphere, light, and place converge to create something that exists briefly and then transforms into something else or disappears altogether.
