Pappy Dreaming
Each piece is captured in a rare moment where light, time, and place come together.
I experimented with depth of field for this composition, keeping the bourbon in the glass sharp and in color while letting the Pappy bottle behind it fall into soft focus. The effect creates a dreamlike quality - the legend slightly obscured, the liquid itself crystal clear.
The technique works because it mirrors the reality of these bottles. Most people will never taste Pappy 23. The bottles themselves have become more myth than product, traded at multiples of retail, allocated in tiny quantities, spoken about more than experienced. But the bourbon - when it's finally poured and present - is real and immediate and visceral. If you do get the opportunity to taste - it might be a special occasion where at nights end you may be seeing the bottle like this.
The selective color on the liquid becomes almost painterly against the softened monochrome background. For those who know - the bottle is unmistable. You can still make out the label details, the image of Pappy himself, but they're suggested rather than sharp. What's sharp and clear and undeniably present is the amber in the glass.

My Commitment
craftsmanship
Quality and craftsmanship sit at the heart of every piece I produce—long after the shutter clicks and long before a print ever reaches a wall. From meticulous file preparation to museum-grade materials and exacting color accuracy, each image is refined through a deliberate, uncompromising process designed to honor the moment it was captured. It is this final, critical step that transforms a fleeting encounter in the wild into a lasting work of fine art.
